E-books can add value to your business in several ways: By establishing your expertise, by drawing viewers to your website, by attracting links to and buzz about your site, and by generating revenue. For best results, your e-book should provide useful, actionable content, and establish trust between you and the reader. Here are some tips for making your next e-book a bestseller:
- Develop your e-book for a specific purpose (promotions, sales), and keep these goals in mind as you write. If you are giving away your e-book, include pointers for readers to take the next step in making a purchase. If you are selling it, include requests for links to your site or testimonials to help spread the word.
- Keep in mind (and write for) your target audience. Before you even begin writing, identify who you are talking to. What are their interests, concerns? What do they want to know? What do they already know? How do they process information?
- Give your e-book an attention grabbing title. When you are promoting your e-book, the title may be all someone has to go on. Make it make them want to know more!
- Use sidebars to break up the text and provide supplemental information. Give your readers a “brain break” and add details that might not fit in the main body of your text.
- Once your e-book has readers’ attention, hold onto it with valuable content and captivating copy. So, you’ve convinced people that your e-book is worth downloading, but is it worth reading? Be sure the answer is yes!
